 Daily Port Update

Subject:RI Operations Daily Port Update
Date:Thursday, February 01, 2018
Priority:Normal
Notice:
**Due to the ongoing Government budget constraints, Providence CBP has advised they will only board vessels that are arriving from foreign ports within the hours of 0700-1900, 7 days a week. Vessels that arrive after hours and are in need of CBP clearance will not be able to conduct any cargo operations until the vessel has been cleared by a CBP officer. Agent and gaugers are allowed to board after hours when prior consent is granted**

Homeland Security Advisory System
*********************************
The National Homeland Security Advisory System is at Yellow (MARSEC Level I), or an elevated level of threat for the Port of Providence.

Cape Cod Canal Air Draft Restriction
*********************************
The US Army Corp of Engineers has advised that the air draft for Cape Cod Canal transits has returned to 135 feet.
********************************************************************************************************
Narragansett Bay restrictions: The 9 buoy has dragged into the ship channel at the southern end of Rumstick Neck Reach. The channel is therefore blocked to ship traffic north of this point for vessel transit to or from Providence. The USCG advises that they will not have the assets in place to clear the channel and reposition the buoy until Thursday.

Cape Cod Canal restictions: Canal Control advised that currently, due to ice, tug and barge units carrying petroleum are restricted to daylight only and fair tide. All other vessels are on a case by case basis and are advisesd to contact the canal well in advance of intended canal transits for updates.
